The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has issued a press statement dismissing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition as ineffective opposition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election campaign. The organization, which describes itself as the leading youth advocacy voice of the Niger Delta region, released the statement through its National President, Comrade Israel Uwejeyan.
The NDYC characterized the ADC coalition as a collection of politically discredited figures, specifically targeting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi. The organization accused these politicians of betraying various regional interests and engaging in failed governance practices during their respective tenures.
In contrast, the NDYC praised President Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the performance of key cabinet members including Defence Minister Dr. Bello Matawalle, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Works Minister Senator Dave Umahi, and Federal Capital Territory Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike. The organization argued that these officials have demonstrated competence in their respective portfolios and secured regional support for the current administration.
The statement also called for the publication of forensic audit reports concerning the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), referencing allegations involving a ₦48 billion scandal. The NDYC urged President Tinubu to ensure accountability in this matter while reaffirming the organization’s support for his re-election bid, positioning his administration as the preferred choice for continued governance over the ADC coalition.
